Not So Lost After All...

Good morning, loves!

Remember Thursday, when I wrote about losing every last bit of data on my old computer? I was pretty devastated to have lost every picture, paper, song, and project that I had done over the last 3 years , but wasn't willing to pay someone $500+ to attempt to retrieve it all.

Because I couldn't bear the thought of living without my sweet pictures (and because I'm a cheapskate) I decided to take matters into my own hands.

A few minutes, five Google searches, and 99¢ later, I had about 1/8 of my beloved pictures back in my arms. Okay...sounds a little dramatic, but let's just say I was so psyched to have my pictures back that I bounced up and down in my chair until Josh gave me that "I have no idea who you are" look.

Yeah. I was that happy.

Anywho, would you like to know how I did this amazing thing? Would you? Would you?!?!

You've twisted my arm. I'll share.

I started out by Googling (yes, it's a verb) "download Instagram photos online" and this is what I got.

OS X Daily gave me two great options.
1. InstaBackup for Mac OS X: A small app designed to let you log in to your Instagram account via the app store and download straight to a folder of your choice. Mac compatible only.
2. Instaport for Everything: A web-based, cross-platform friendly alternative that downloads a zip archive of all your Instagram photos to your computer. Compatible with any operating system that can download a zip file.

Being a self-proclaimed Apple addict, of course I had to give InstaBackup my loyalty. So I downloaded the app (from the Apple app store on my computer) for 99¢, logged into my Instagram account using the app, and within seconds every picture I'd ever taken with that delicious, yet Facebook-owned drug was downloaded and saved to my computer.

And get this. It was all organized by DATE. TAKEN. Talk about Type A Heaven.

So there ya have it. If you're an Instagram addict like myself and ever feel the need to organize them all in one spot, THIS is the way to go.

Hope you're having a fabulous weekend! :)

*I was not paid or perked to review InstaBackup. This is simply my way of spreading the joy of photo organization and recovery. ;)*

I'm so glad you got some of the pics back! When I moved to MD, the post office lost a package with a binder full of all of my childhood memories and I cried for so long ; (((

That is awesome you were able to have pictures saved. I still am sad about one of my computers that crashed.

I'll never get any of it again.
