WILW #3

Hello friends! It's that time again...Today I'm linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday!

Today I'm loving...

*That there are only 2 days until Move-In Day (which means 1 day til Kiss-My-Hubby Day)!!!

*Watching old seasons of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Yes, I think that show is entertaining. Don't judge!

*The movie Water for Elephants, starring Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon. I loved the book, but was skeptical about the movie. It was surprisingly good! Definitely a must-see if you've read the book.

*That my parents and my BFF's mother have been awesome (as usual) at helping me get everything set and ready to go for the move. Love them!

*My work friends!!! One made cupcakes and brought them in for me today (since tomorrow's my last day) and 2 others are stopping in to see me tomorrow night even though they're not working. I'm going to miss them so much!

*Gel nails. This is going to be an expensive habit to feed, honey.

*That my husband and I have been awesome at communicating through all the busy-ness we've both been pushing through lately. I don't think I could have caught myself a better man if I tried.

What are you loving this Wednesday?

Shaklee-izing!!!

OH. EM. GEE.

Yes, I sound like a 14 year old girl at a Justin Bieber concert when I say that, but I really don't care.

I'm busy finishing my classes early so that I can have everything done before the big move, so this morning was filled with chapter after chapter of Personal Wellness & Nutrition homework. I had just finished the last chapter (for today) when my "reward" arrived on my doorstep.

I knew exactly what it was, so I excitedly jumped (quite literally) out of my chair, bumped my toe, and ran to the front door. There it was! My exciting, healthy, chemical-free life was sitting there, waiting to be opened and adored.

So I did just that. I opened the boxes. I took everything out. I read the labels. I squealed at the fact that I could officially start my "Healthy Home Makeover." And I said (outloud), "Thank you Lord for Shaklee!"

If you can't already tell, I'm psyched that Joshua and I will finally have our own place to call home. And along with that comes the freedom to clean with whatever I want. And you know what? I want to clean with natural, chemical-free products that are not only great at doing their job, but also great for my family's health!

I've known about Shaklee for a while now, as my grandparents used to sell their products and my cousin uses them as well. But I've only recently discovered that I also have a friend that is a Shaklee distributor and that Shaklee is extremely evident and popular in the blog world! I keep seeing awesome results and hearing encouraging testimonials from people who have changed their lifestyles from "Clorox-Lysol-Bleach" to "Shaklee-izing" their homes and have noticed an incredible difference in the way they feel and their overall health.

Because of these awesome claims, I am also jumping on the Shaklee train! I just received my Get Clean Healthy Home Pack and my Cinch Whey Protein Shake Mix. All of these products that I'm starting out with are things that I've "sampled" before while I lived with my cousin (who swears by Shaklee's products). I love them all and can't wait to use them in my own home...so much so that I'm actually going to become a Shaklee distributor in the very near future (like...before we leave for our honeymoon in June). YAY!

Does anyone else have a Shaklee testimony? Interested in trying out some of Shaklee's awesome natural products?

Blog Renovation

We're getting closer to moving day over here at Long-Distance Love (7.5 days and counting!), so it's only fitting that a name-change would also be in order. Because of this "make-over stage" in life and on the blog, I posed a contest asking my readers to offer up any creative names for the blog in exchange for a few lovely things.

Since I currently only have 6 readers I wasn't too surprised that I only got 1 (yes, one) response. My blog-friend over at Relevant Notes offered up a few ideas, but my favorite is..........

LOCAL AT LAST

After two years of long-distance, Josh and I are FINALLY closing the gap and becoming "Local at Last," so I felt that Relevant Notes' suggestion was the right fit for this blog. I'm very excited to start flaunting my new name and I'm also psyched to send the Grand Prize to my dear friend!

A few more changes that will be popping up in the near future are some TABS! I've added a few tabs so far, such as...

*About Me
*Our Wedding
*Our Home
*Our Bucket List
*Blog Challenges
*My Amazon Store

Soon, I'll be adding a new tab labeled "Our Travels" and updating the tabs that have little (or no) information. I'm so excited for these changes and I hope you are too. =)

WILW #2

Today I'm linking up with Jamie to keep up with my new weekly blog posts, What I'm Loving Wednesday!

I'm loving this springy artwork: Via

*I'm loving that the grass is now green, thanks to all the rain we've been getting.

*I'm loving that the flowers from our vow renewal ceremony have lasted long enough to enjoy them around the house (but hating that they're now wilted).

*I'm loving that Move-In Day is only 11 days away!

*I'm loving that I've gotten to spend more time with the girls from work OUTSIDE of work these past few weeks. On April 10th they were at our ceremony, on April 17th we had a Girls' Night In at my place, yesterday I spent the afternoon shopping and eating Chinese with my friend, Chelsea, and this Friday we're all going out to enjoy the start to our weekend! I'm definitely going to miss them.

*I'm loving that my husband and I have been able to have long Skype chats recently.

*I'm loving that I've only got a week and a half of school left and that I'm able to finish one of my classes early. That is, if I'm able to get all the homework done this week...

*I'm loving that I've had Stewart's Orange'n Cream soda (from the classic glass bottle) 3 times since we put away all the leftovers from our rehearsal dinner.

P.S. Today is the last day to submit your ideas for my new blog name! Find more about this contest here!

Going Once, Going Twice...

Tomorrow's the last day to enter your suggestions for Long-Distance Love's new name! If you haven't already (or if you have more ideas), post your creative name for LDL's "local make-over" in the comments section below this post.

The End of An Era

After a long, uneventful day at work and running errands I came home to pack, pack, pack. I turned on my Jason Aldean station on Pandora, poured myself some Stewart's Orange Cream soda, and began to pack up my old life.

I sorted through some old clothes, started building my Goodwill pile, and prayed to God that I could lose enough weight to fit into my favorite outfits from when I was skinny. But as I was taking a "soda break" I caught myself getting emotional at the sight of these.

I apologize for the poor quality of this picture, but I wanted to capture these memories while I was still in the moment and my phone was the closest camera I could reach.

The yellow canvas is from the summer of 2009. I nannied for 3 kids - Amy, Nathan, and Alexis during my last summer at my parents' house. At the end of the summer I let them all paint a canvas of anything they could imagine. But for myself, I had them each paint their hand and plant their hand-print on my board.

The heart with all of the mittens and scribbles was created by my favorite child. I know it's not good to have "favorites" and I know that Alexis is hardly a child anymore, but I don't care. She will always be that adorable, diva-licious 4 year old who quickly became "the little sister I never had." This heart was our first project together. I remember doing this on the first night I babysat for her while her parents enjoyed the night out. She acted shy, but after a few days together, we bonded and I've had the privilege of watching her grow up for the past 6 years. It's incredible how quickly they grow - bodies AND personality.

After all this time nannying for Alexis in the summers, babysitting her during the school years, and now seeing her at the gym I currently work at, I realize that this may be the end of an era. My moving to D.C. will mean that I don't randomly see people I know and love at the grocery store or at the gym. And that makes me sad, but I know that this is life. I've always known it because I got so used to moving when I was young, but after being "settled" in Illinois for the past 10 years I've made my life here and now it's hard to leave for good.

I'm probably going to cry as we're packing up the truck in 12 short days, but I've made good memories and good friends here and I can always take that satisfaction with me.

What I'm Loving Wednesday #1

With all this extra time on my hands after our Big Day I'm feeling adventurous...so today I'm posting TWICE! I haven't done that in quite a while, so it feels incredibly good to be able to share my thoughts with you. Also, with a new beginning after my blog break I felt like I should add in a little something new.

I've seen a LOT of What I'm Loving Wednesday around the blog world and I've always wanted to join in, but today is the day I'm actually jumping on the bandwagon! So I'm linking up with Jamie...here goes nothin'.

*I'm loving that April 10th was a gorgeous day for a vow renewal ceremony! It was supposed to rain, but it ended up being 80 degrees and breezy all day. =) All of the hard work paid off and all the little details came together beautifully. Perfect day.

*I'm loving that I now have TONS of free time with no wedding details taking up my brain space. Now to tackle packing, school, and the rest of that name-change paperwork before...

*I'm loving that Josh and I move in together in only 16 1/2 days! We're finally closing the gap and couldn't be happier. =)

*I'm loving that I can rejoin the blog-o-sphere (as Relevant Notes put it) and I can't wait to share pictures of our Big Day with you and to see what you come up with for my new name!

*I'm loving that the babies I'll be nannying for starting in July were born Tuesday, April 5th and that they and their beautiful mommy are healthy. Welcome to the world, Adam and Aidan!

So what are you loving on this beautiful spring day?

P.S. I'm also loving that my cousin (who's a photographer) took a few pictures this weekend and already has them up on Facebook! Here's a sneak peek. =)

"Honey, I'm Hoooome!" & A Giveaway

That's right, everyone (aka my 4 lovely readers...so far), I'm officially rejoining the blog world after a whirlwind couple of weeks and I need your help.

You see, now that Josh and I are married, we're finally able to move in together. Move-in day (all the way from Chicagoland to Northern Virginia) is April 30th and I am BEYOND excited!

But here's where I need your help. You know how my blog is called "Long-Distance Love"? Well...as of April 30th, we won't be long-distance lovers any more! So here's the challenge for you...

1. Submit your ideas for LDL's new name in the comments section below this post. I'd like to stay in keeping with the new nature of our relationship (ex. "Local Love"), so get your thinking caps on!

2. Link up to my blog on YOUR blog telling your readers all about this challenge and giveaway. I need as many ideas as possible and I'd love to see what the rest of Bloggy Land can come up with!

3. Stay tuned to see who the winner is! I'll be announcing the winner next Wednesday, April 20th.

GRAND PRIZE
If you submit the name I fall in love with, not only will you get recognition in a blog post flaunting my new name, but you'll also receive 3 aqua pint Ball jars, 10 vintage postcards (hand-picked just for you), and the satisfaction of knowing that your creative genes were put to good use helping another blogger. =)

I'm psyched to be able to rejoin my fellow bloggers again and I can't wait to see what you all come up with for my new name. =)
